Renaissance Revisted

This pendant is made with a red garnet cz, bezel set in fine silver using metal clay. The setting is hand formed, fired and finished. The stone itself is 8 mm by 8 mm. I am still in the learning process here and I think I will be for a long time. Every piece seems to have something go wrong and I have to learn how to fix it. But with metal clay, you can fix all kinds of problems before and after you fire the piece. This pendant measures 1 and 1/2 inches from the top of the bail to the bottom and is 3/4 inch wide. I heavily oxidized the surface to bring up the contrast. I also wanted it to look old, like it has been around a long time, passed down through generations and loved through out the years.
