galleryAngel WingsThis pendant is made of fine silver from PMC (precious metal clay). The shape reminds me of angel wings which is a comforting thought. I formed and carved it by hand, then fired and finished the surface. It has been heavily oxidized, buffed out and burnished so that there are different textures that catch the light. The green Swarovski crystal in the middle is subject to change. I am going to look for a bright green faceted Tourmaline briolette this weekend at the bead show that will hang... #282 Indian Weave Ear ringsThis pair of ear rings was hand woven in solid copper with black onyx accents. I just learned this weave from a wonderfully talented wire jewelry artist Iza Malczyk. She has some very nice tutorials. Check it out, her designs are worth your time. The copper here has been heavily oxidized and buffed back to a shine. They measure 3 1/4 inches without the french hook and are 5/8 inch wide. #280 Why Not?Many times the stones themselves inspire me and I don't need any other thought process to guild my design. These stones just said "Wrap me up", so I said "Why not?" And I was off... It takes quite a while to coil one of these necklaces but this one just flew together. It is funny how that can happen sometimes. I don't try to understand it, I just go with it and see where it takes me. I am pretty happy with where this one landed. It is made of Citrine nuggets, faceted Smokey Quartz and sterling... #279 Turquoise ShieldThis unusual pendant is an attempt on my part to bring together my new love of metal clay with my old faithful wiring skills. To wire the stone over the silver shield gives it some dimension and unexpected depth. I am still not sure exactly how I want to handle this. It is definitely a work in progress but I do think that this one is closer to where I am heading. It has an earthy appeal, strong yet not overbearing. It is a statement piece for a confident gal who has depth of character. #276 La Culpa es MiaThis extraordinary necklace is the result of an all day excursion into the world of Precious Metal Clay. What a challenge and fun it was I made the mold from a door knob and used a heck of a lot of pmc to fill it (it was a large knob). I set the gemstone (lab grown Blue Spinel) deeper than I intended so it is not as bright as I had hoped, but the blue fresh water pearls really help to bring out the color. I had originally burnished it bright and shiny but there was too much contrast, it didn't... #275 Ruby Flower PendantThis pendant is made of a new medium for me, PMC, precious metal clay. I am inside the learning curve right now, making all kinds of mistakes, screwing up big time. But hey, how else do I learn? Setting the stone was tricky for me since it was the first time I ever attempted anything like this and I was sure I'd mess up. I did...four times...but who's counting? I won't let a little thing like colossal failure stop me. I gritted my teeth and kept trying. So, after fighting my battles, this is... #269 Double-Decker Double Swirl PendantWhen using Chrysocolla, be very careful. That is all I have to say. It is a soft stone, (Mohs scale of 2.5 to 3.5) that is hard to resist with its beautiful blue/green and this one has browns also. But dang! It is hard to set in wire. This cab was broken in to three pieces as my tight wrap ate up the stone. But I didn't give up. Super glue to the rescue. I changed up my design and hid the mess to salvage what I could. Boy, did I want to hit the epic failure button on this one. But here it is. A... #261 Make the best of it PendantThis pendant is made of a hand wrapped Chrysocolla cab. Although beautiful, Chrysocolla is a a soft stone that needs to to be handled with care when being set. Well, I always seem to learn the hard way. I broke this cab completely in two while wrapping it. I guess I wrap a little too tight some times. But I just couldn't give up on it, the stone is too pretty to throw away. So I super glued it together and used nail polish remover (the kind with acetone) to clean up the residue on the front.... #261 Satin Dome Necklace, Bracelet and Ear Ring SetWith this set, I wanted to design something that would be neutral enough to wear with almost anything and yet have some drama and spunk. Lots of dangling pieces of black onyx give it movement and playfulness while the satin domes catch the light and give it elegance and sophistication. I am really pleased with the overall effect. When you wear this set, you are casual and elegant at the same time. The bracelet is 7 1/4 inches long and the necklace is 19 1/2 inches long and is adjustable. #260 Gary Green jasper PendantThis pendant is made of an interesting cabochon of Gary Green Jasper. It has been carefully hand wrapped in 14 k gold filled wire. I chose gold wire because it compliments the particular shade of green that is present in this stone. I tried something new and wrapped the outside edge all the way around the stone and left only the design wire on the front free of wrapping. It was not easy to do this and I had to splice in a section but I don't think you can see it from the front (hopefully).... #252 Crystal Agate PendantThis unique pendant is made of an extraordinary agate drusy cabochon. The flow of the crystal in the agate is so beautiful that all I had to do was to follow the lines already given. It is such a neat piece that I had to show it to you all. It measures 2 1/4 inches tall and 1 1/4 inch wide. Hope you like it. #227 Amazonite NecklaceOnce again I go back to the amazonite with smokey quartz. It really is one of my all time favorite color combinations. Sometimes I can't wait to get the piece done so I will coil furiously for hours, with steely determination to get it done. This one has a centerpiece that makes it unique to the other amazonite pieces I have done. It looks great with a V neck sweater or an open collared shirt. It measures 17 1/2 inches to 20 inches long, using the extension chain. #204 Copper and Turquoise BraceletThis is a fun, casual bracelet made of 18 ga. copper wire, turquoise and sodalite. This piece is the result of my playing around with copper, just to see what it can do. It was fun to make and as a result, is fun to wear also. It is 7 1/4 inches long. #153 Reversible Turquoise PendantThis turquoise pendant has been hand-wrapped in sterling silver, with a single drop in the middle. When I was designing this wrap, I saw the other side of the stone was very nice too, just with a lot more brown. So as I wrapped it, I made the back similar so you can flip it and get a new look. When I can, I love to make things reversible so you get more use out of them. It is a great compliment to me when people can not tell which side is the front. I have gone to the galleries where I sell and... #138 Red Swirl drop Ear RingsThese ear rings are made from Cubic Zirconia. The way the CZ's are cut makes them catch a lot of light and flash a gorgeous red/orange fire. A highly spirited pair of ear rings; wear these and be noticed! Hand wrapped with 14K gold filled wired and measure 2 inches from the top of the french hook to the bottom. The CZ's are 10/16 in. wide. #128 Ammonite Fossil PendantThis beautiful Ammonite fossil was presented to me to wrap for a good friend of mine, Barbara McGuire. I tried to give the stone good balance and not to distract from the beautiful sparkle inside the chambers. Quite a challenge this stone was, but I never back down from a good challenge. It is reversible so if she chooses, she can wear the outside of the shell facing up to get a different look. Ammonite PendantThis pendant has that earthy elegance that I love so much. It is made of an Ammonite fossil from the Volga River in Russia. It has pyrite druzy in the center that glistens softly in the light and draws your attention. A wonderfully unique pendant that adds just the right touch to whatever you wear it with. Ammonite WonderThis is a pendant made of an ammonite fossil cabochon. The center has areas of pyrite druzy which I emphasized with the wiring. I chose the bail bead very carefully so the bail would compliment the stone setting. It sold the first time I put it out so I guess it was a successful piece. Chocolate DreamThis pendant is made of a beautiful agate druzy cabochon. The shape of the cut and the way the crystal seems to peek through is just extraordinary and it was sold the very day that I wrapped it. Some stones are so beautiful that I don't get a chance to get to know them like I want to, they just fly to their new homes. Coiled BraceletThis bracelet is mostly large Bali beads, accented with 8 mm round, brown Swarovski crystals. This bracelet was made for a client at Christmas. He wanted a bracelet for his wife that would go with a multitude of things. This is what I came up with for her. I am happy to say she loved it. Copper Quartz Coiled necklaceThis piece is made of grey/coppery colored quartz. I highlighted the colors and added a little bling with Swarovski crystal cubes. The main section is hand coiled with fine, sterling wire and takes hours of work. ![]() |
